Guide Shop at The Society Inc

We have re-imagined our shop space and I must say, I think this new iteration is my favourite of all our 8 years of being at St Peters. I have the same sense of joy I had first moving into this space and can so clearly see the endless possibilities of being in a generous, inner-city, brick warehouse with herringbone joists steeped in history and nostalgia.

I have shopped the world as part of my job & pleasure for the past 30 years and the retail experience has been beyond memorable for me. I have travelled to the other side of the globe just to visit a shop, and have had goosebumps walking into retail spaces that are magically merchandised where I wonder, is it a theatre set build? Is it a movie? Is it a portal to another world?!

I have been inspired as retail has changed in format to give customers joy & entertainment over the decades. Now I am blurring the lines of my own space between shop, showroom, library, studio, museum and workshop for you to pop on your list to come and visit when you are in St Peters, Sydney, Australia.

The Society inc teams desks are scattered throughout the 300m2 space and although my crew are working on many projects and supporting a small business (i.e wearing many hats) they can readily answer your questions.

This experience is designed to be self guided, so take your time and enjoy, and shout out to my crew when you are ready or have any questions, or are in want of a second opinion. We are here to help!

While we are largely online, I never want to lose the nostalgic experience of walking into a shop and how that makes you feel, how ideas come freely, how a space can spark curiosity and how a story about an object can expand an idea for an interior space. If you can’t join us in person, give us a call or FaceTime and we will help you choose the perfect product for your project.

The shop is yours to enjoy and get lost in. It continues to be my imaginarium, a lab-like magical place where I get to experiment in a creative transportive world.

Woolooma Glass House

If it wasn’t for the call of a lyrebird, the property might never have existed...

Late last year I made my way to the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW, around 6 hours from Sydney, where Woolooma Glass House lies. With my travel companions Silver and her little bestie - Maisy. Built in 1973 by Sydney-based architect John Suttor, this stunning property is owned by the White family, who have a deep-rooted connection to the land that spans generations.
